Job Purpose:
The Commercial Officer is responsible for driving commercial success by managing contracts, negotiating favorable terms, identifying new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers. This role contributes to the overall growth and profitability of our clients company by optimizing pricing strategies, mitigating commercial risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the design, construction and control of gas distribution networks and ensure that the clients standards, safety case, and industry standards are met.
- Carry out market and technology research, competitors and customers survey and provide reports on their activities trend to the board.
- Manage Safe Control of Operations requirements; live gas operations (RO’s and NRO’s) if required; and high-level operational liaison with other gas distributors.
- Manage relationships with offtakers of crude oil produced and drive sales and marketing functions in the company
- Identify and deliver operational cost reduction, cost avoidance initiatives and ensure that project deadlines are met.
- Support commercial objectives for all Business Development Activities in the daily monitoring of gas flow and maintenance activities and measure its commercial impact on the business.
- Commercial review of GSPA and analysis of data and contract terms to optimize
- Processing opportunities surrounding the Company’s assets, maintaining and optimizing existing commercial transactions, while utilizing industry knowledge and experience to identify and execute on opportunities to capture incremental margin for existing assets and projects.
- Ability to develop and implement commercial strategies, meeting company goals and objectives, oversee the services of 3rd party carriers, manage supplier delivery performance and maintain supplier contracts, whilst managing client expectations.
- Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, financials and economic risks; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; and price negotiations with local and international carriers for commercial
- Drive the adoption of best practices for process improvement, establish gas transmission or distribution procedures and policies according to safety requirements.
- Champion innovative safe work practices based on industry best practices, according to statutory requirements and procedures.
- Ensure that the gas network strategies and development are in line with business
Qualification and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of energy markets, industry dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years Proven experience in a similar commercial officer role within the energy industry.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Demonstrates ability to develop and execute successful commercial strategies.
- Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data and market trends.
- Strong business acumen and financial literacy.

- Proficiency in using computer applications and software relevant to commercial operations and data analysis.
